3 His divine power has given us everything we need for a godly life through our knowledge of him who called us by his own glory and goodness. 4 Through these he has given us his very great and precious promises, so that through them you may participate in the divine nature, having escaped the corruption in the world caused by evil desires. (NIV)

3 For His divine power has bestowed on us [absolutely] everything necessary for [a dynamic spiritual] life and godliness, through true and personal knowledge of Him who called us by His own glory and excellence. 4 For by these He has bestowed on us His precious and magnificent promises [of inexpressible value], so that by them you may escape from the immoral freedom that is in the world because of disreputable desire, and become sharers of the divine nature. ● (vs 3) What has Christ’s divine power provided for the believer? How would you define a godly life? Why might believers struggle to live a godly life if Christ has provided everything needed to live it? By what means were believers called?

● (v 4). How does Peter describe Christ’s promises? What is the source of these promises? What do Christ’s great and precious promises allow believers to do? When believers participate in Christ’s divine nature, what are they able to escape?

Suggested Prayer:  “Lord Jesus, thank you that your divine power has given me everything I need for a godly life through my knowledge of you who called me by your own glory and goodness. Help me to continually grow in my personal relationship and knowledge of you. Through your own glory and goodness my God and Savior, you have given me your very great and precious promises. Through your very great and precious promises, I can share in your divine nature and escape the corruption in this world caused by evil desires. Help me remember your promises and rely upon you when challenged and tempted by the corruption and evil in this world. Amen”
