James 1:13-15 – Prayer
“When tempted, no one should say, “God is tempting me.” For God cannot be tempted by evil, nor does he tempt anyone; 14 but each person is tempted when they are dragged away by their own evil desire and enticed. 15 Then, after desire has conceived, it gives birth to sin; and sin, when it is full-grown, gives birth to death.”
Dear Lord and Heavenly Father,
I am tempted to despair, I know it’s not You Lord, it’s me. Lord, keep me from my temptations my thoughts so evil so vile I can hardly keep them in my mind. But here I am, my feet willing to walk to the place, my hands willing to do my minds evil bidding. I look at the ends of my arms and see hands all too willing to sin, legs and feet that barely need to work to drag me to sin and death. Lord, the desires of my mind, take them from me and give me Your desires, and strength to resist and turn away. Give to me Your desires, banish my thoughts of evil and sin, give me Your eyes that I might not look at sin and evil with any desire. May Your strength be with me so as not to be dragged into sin, evil thoughts, wandering eyes. Lord help me to make Your desires mine so no evil or sinful thought can be birthed, so that my hands and feet will not grow them into sin and death.
Lord may the gift of Your son Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit be with me always, may They guide and direct me into Your desire, Your will. May Your Grace and Mercy be with me, do not let me die a sinners death, may the Blood of Jesus wash me clean, may Your desires not those of my flesh be always on my mind so that sin can not enter.
